Clonal trees have a double graft performed. Firstly, a clonal rootstock variety grafted onto the seed source. This rootstock variety is selected for reasons such as tolerances to diseases, water, or salinity . The rootstock grafts becomes the root system of the clonal tree onto which the scion (fruit) variety grafted. Our nursery removes the seed from the final clonal tree to ensure the tree remains a clonal once planted into your orchards.

Seedling trees only have one graft performed. They have the scion (fruit) variety grafted onto a seed source. The root system of the tree therefore comes from the seed source which is genetically different and has no uniformity in their tolerances to disease, water, or salinity.
More uniformity in orchard growth
Less chance of diseases such as phytophthora
Up to 30% more yields
Seedling trees can be produced by order with the same scion varieties above.
